Hypnotists are increasingly called upon to help people quit smoking and help
clients control their weight.
Weight Loss and Smoking Cessation pay the RENT for most Hypnotists .
Expertise in these two
common areas will produce Referrals for
many other issues ,once the practitioner is perceived
as either an
expert or simply a competent professional, because clients
regularly report good results
with Weight Loss and Smoking
Cessation.
These practical advanced techniques and approaches are not
theoretical,but have been developed
over 13 years in both group and
individual sessions by William Mitchell, founder of the successful
Personal
Motivation Hypnosis Clinics where hundreds of clients each year Stop
Smoking or
lose 10- 100 pounds of fat.
This course provides scripts, techniques and advanced material in two
manuals .
Utilization and Motivational Interviewing are discussed as essential to
successful interventions.
Motivational Techniques combined with
specific Hypnosis techniques and scripts for Weight Control and
Smoking Cessation will be presented and demonstrated with live
sessions on volunteers.
The physical realities of weight control are discussed including caloric intake
required to initially gain weight,
realistic reduction based on body weight and
level of exercise, causes of weight gain, lifestyle education for clients,
and
information on medications and medical conditions that can hinder progress and
what to do in these situations.
We will discuss three clinical issues that arise in
treating a weight loss client: dropping out of treatment, emotional
disturbances
during dieting, and regaining weight. Current research on effective and safe
weight reduction and
weight control is introduced and discussed.
Any intervention with a smoker must address the three components of habit:
conditioned response,
emotional associations, and physical dependence. Several
stop smoking strategies are introduced and
discussed, including gradual
withdrawal and 'cold turkey' with the use of hypnosis. Also discussed is how
to
determine which techniques will best serve individual clients
specific needs and how to help
potentially successful clients understand
the reasons and advantages of multiple sessions designed to
facilitate
long-term change .
